Another great weekend at Scammonden Activity Centre with our Guiding units.
Plenty of space- even if a larger group, well equipped and layout is perfect. A good mixture of 4 and 8 bedded rooms.
On site shop is a lovely addition to the weekend and our Guides loved spending their pennies on souvenirs and of course sweeties!
The centre is in a great location and would recommend the walk around the dam or the challenge of Scammonden Steps. There is also a Harry Potter Geocaching trail for those into Geocaching or looking for a trail to follow for a hike.
Highlights of the centre;
Large hob and oven space
Lots of large pans, great for mass cooking!
Boot room- for wet coats and muddy shoes!
Bouldering wall
On site shop
Beautiful views of the dam
We will be sure to return again and a firm favourite of local residential centres!
Brought a group of 19 adults here for a stag do. The building is tucked out of the way with a great view of the reservoir. It was bigger than expected with great facilities. The kitchen is extensive and the main room was a good size to entertain the group. We made use of the two BBQs in front as well.
Had no issue with the bunk rooms and the toilet and shower facilities were well maintained.
Really good experience, would strongly recommend.
Had another really successful winter camp with the beavers and cubs. Cannot fault Scammoden Activity Centre. Everything we needed was there. Kitchen is amazing and the storage for all the provisions was perfect. We will definitely return for another winter camp soon.

Stayed here with the Beavers, Wolf Cubs and Scouts and we had a fantastic time at the Centre. (our last visit was 10 years ago). we found the facilities very good and liked the games room that was available to use. the shop (trust shop) is full of very reasonable pocket money priced gifts.
My only request would be maybe the possibility of adding Wifi to the centre. we are a very interactive group and as well as uploading photos to our parents page we also live stream our campfires so that parents and families can join in from home.

We took our children in our holiday playscheme to stay at the activity centre for one night over summer and they had a great time. The centre is well equipped and clean with some great spacious areas. It is a great location – we will definitely be booking again next year!!
We have stayed here with our Scouts and Explorers lots and it is a fantastic facility, clean, spacious, large kitchen, dining room and lounge. Very clean. Great outdoors on the door step. Will definitely come again. We went walking on Pennine moors, sailing at Scout Centre at Green Withens, bouldering on indoor wall.
